Trunking Systems
Trunking Systems
Trunking systems share multiple frequencies with many users. In conventional systems, a frequency is dedicated to a group of users. When those users are not using the frequency, this channel is idle and its potential airtime is wasted. Trunking systems allow these users to share the same group of frequencies. Talkgroups are used in trunking systems as virtual channels. Talkgroups allow users to share these common frequencies, while only communicating with those in the same talkgroup. Trunking systems increase the utilization of their group of radio frequencies and allow more users to use fewer frequencies. Since frequencies for exclusive use are becoming scarce in many areas, large organizations will find a trunking system an attractive option.
Wright Communications has installed and currently maintains several critical public safety trunking systems, including one simulcast trunking system!
